Ability Name: Fire-Attuned
Ability Description: As an intensely passionate clan, The Uchiha have a preternatural inclination towards fire release. Granted the fire element at creation along with one other element, they are unable to unlock a tertiary element until A-rank.
Chakra Molding - Fire (Scaling) | Masato can mold fire chakra to deal or protect from 20 damage within 5 meters of herself at 5 meters per second.
Hand Signs (Scaling) | Due to being exceptionally skilled at ninjutsu, Masato practiced hand signs every day of his life for well over a decade. As such, long ago he learned how to perform them one-handed, allowing him one hand to act freely with. These hand signs are also extremely resilient, allowing him to maintain them even whilst being wounded or distracted.
One Mind, Two Worlds (Scaling) | A tangential ability tied to Masato's ambidextrousness and ability to cast one-handed, he is able to simultaneously cast two different techniques that rely on only one hand. This can be any of his arts, as long as they require no two-handed physical components like particularly large scrolls.
United Body and Soul (Scaling) | Coming from his training in utilising taijutsu and ninjutsu simultaneously, he has learned to make his stamina and chakra all but interchangeable, allowing him to use a mix of both or even the other entirely to cover the cost of the technique.
Utmost Efficiency (Scaling) | Due to his sheer dedication to practice, Masato has learned how to cast all of his techniques as efficiently as possible. Thus, any jutsu his own rank or lower's casting cost is reduced by 25%.
APPEARANCE: Masato is what most people would likely expect from the leader of the Uchiha clan; Tall, with a thin figure, black eyes and similarly black hair. His hair has grown exceptionally long during his time within the KMP (Konohagakure Military Police), resulting in him having to wear a bandana to keep it out of his face during missions. In exchange, he wears his forehead protector around his waist like a belt, kept on a long, black length of cloth.
Tending to wear a red cloak around his body, choosing to make himself more visible as a statement of his beliefs about their duties to the village, he definitely stands out in a crowd. This cloak is only ever removed when indoors due to wishing to avoid upsetting others by insulting their hospitality. During these periods, one can see that he wears a black version of the regular flak jacket, connected by a bunch of leather sinches to further enhance its protection.
The last major thing to note about Masato's appearance is the series of tattoos that cover his body. His entire back is covered in the Uchiha clan's symbol, a sign of his devotion to them as their clan leader. He also has a series of tomoe connecting almost like a chain up both arms and joining together in the middle, providing an arch for the clan symbol.

PERSONALITY: From the moment he entered the academy, Masato was an exemplar of a ninja - naturally talented, always wanting to push further and harder, trying to help as many people as possible. He was a kind man, one who preferred to rely on speaking than on violence but who lacked any shame in fighting when it came down to it, and thus was considered rather bizarre for the usually wry and cynical Uchiha clan.
Despite inheriting the Curse of Hatred, Masato seems to internalise that hatred, despising his own weakness and his own vulnerabilities. For that reason, he practices almost to the point of obsession and keeps putting himself second whilst prioritising other people. Whilst this makes him kinder and more balanced than most of his clanmates, it also means he's his own worst enemy.
Like a dog chasing its tail, he is in an endless pursuit of a nebulous "Better". He wants to be stronger, to be smarter, to be able to predict things before they happen. Whilst he does not hold himself directly responsible for the Kage's fall, he does believe that there was more that could be done. As such, he will find a way to do for the next leader what could not be done for the last.
Despite this fixation easily having the capability to make him cruel, he is perhaps one of the most gentle and altruistic souls within the village. Spending time helping genin or giving anyone who asks for it additional lessons. Under his influence, the KMP focused more on outreach and helping struggling members of the village in order to minimise the risk of missing-nin, putting them in dire contrast to the more violent ANBU.
Lastly, it should be noted that he has one other obsession other than self-improvement: candy. First carrying them around in his pockets as part of his outreach for the KMP, he began to absent-mindedly snack them to help with the extreme stress of his job. Even now he's left his position, he seems to carry entire pockets stuffed with the things, using them as a way to soothe his recurrent stress-headaches.
HISTORY: Masato was born as the sole heir of the main branch of the Uchiha family. Whilst this might otherwise assure him a form of political power over the other families, their transition to a mercenary nature had long since eradicated most of the concept of aristocracy save for the head themselves. Thus, he was raised much like anyone else.
From an early age, he was recognised as a child with a lot of potential. Perhaps it was the fact that he was born left-handed, something that seemed to naturally separate him from others, or perhaps it was something else entirely. Whatever the case, he seemed to enjoy playing with other kids despite this. He would even be seen tutoring other children at the Academy who were having trouble with their lessons when the teacher was busy.
It was for this reason that the young Uchiha was surprisingly popular. Like many who inherit the Curse of Hatred, he was an extremely affectionate young man. However, where he differed was his willingness to openly show his feelings for other people rather than concealing them. This would go on to only grow stronger and more open when he graduated into Team 3.
Masato spent less than a year in the position of Genin. During this period he found himself excelling at his ninjutsu training and genjutsu training, as was expected of his family, but he grew infectiously jealous of the one that he had declared his rival - Eguchi Chiasa, a clanless shinobi that shone brighter than any other he had seen through his sole dedication to taijutsu.
Not content with simply beating him with his clan's own techniques, Masato shifted his attention to Taijutsu in order to challenge him. Whilst he would never successfully beat him in a direct fight due to Masato's obsession with beating him on his own terms whilst only partially dedicating himself to taijutsu in order to avoid disappointing his family, his chasing of his friend would result in him becoming a stronger ninja. He would even go on to become ambidextrous through his constant endeavours of strengthening his body.
By the end of their first year together, the pair were able to enlist in the Chunin exams, resulting in both graduating. However, their third team member was left behind as a genin due to being eliminated in an early match. This was a particularly difficult decision for them to make, however upon Eguchi making the decision to leave her behind, he chased after him and likewise abandoned her.
From that moment on, they never saw each other again. About five years later, whilst on a mission, he and Eguchi found out that she had been killed during a defection of a missing-nin.
Perhaps it was the fact that this was so distant, that they had been so far away when it had happened, but this loss didn't destroy him in the same way that many other Uchihas lost themselves to grief. It made him feel guilty, sure, but he maintained his resolve. On the other hand, Eguchi seemed to snap under the guilt of being the one to make the decision.
Although it was never discussed, Eguchi would later go on to join pursue a position in ANBU. Masato, on the other hand, chose to walk the path of the Konohagakure Military Police. He was considered a minor legend within the organisation for believing in deterrence as well as pursuance. By befriending and helping people before they went rogue, he proclaimed that there was less need for later action. An ounce of prevention was worth a pound of cure.
After spending multiple years in this position, he retired upon the breaking of the Seals. His father, the head of the clan, abandoned the village in order to pursue the beasts directly, leaving him in charge. Wanting to redeem the clan in the eyes of the public, he stood up to the plate and took on the mantle of the leader of the Uchiha. Or, at least, the Konohagakure branches.
Within the last four years, he has spent his time practicing fuinjutsu, wishing to be able to protect the village if it came to it. However, it seemed even his abilities were not sufficient, as when the Fox attacked he was left unable to do anything. He, along with various family members and other high-ranking Jonin of the village, attempted to defeat Kurama, only for it to ultimately fail and leave the Kage dead.
Masato was humiliated by this failing, not just of himself but of his clan. Whilst he lay the blame on no individual person, he was motivated more than anyone else to ensure that things would improve. More than anything, he had one new goal in mind: He would do everything in his ability to make up for the loss of the kage.
Whether that was becoming the new kage himself, serving as their advisor, helping to train a replacement or anything else, he swore himself to the office of Kage regardless of who sat in the chair. That was the minimum he could do for all those who had perished during the incident.
