Loud. That was the first thing Noriko thought as she stepped in Konoha after all those years. Were people always this loud? It had been plaguing her day to day thoughts without cease as she bounced between locations, finding which place worked for solitary meditation. She had heard about temples that allowed ample silence but they were again filled with people, even worse she was delaying having to go see her sister after all this time. She had heard... and will seen that the village was struck by an attack of some kind of beast? Monster? Whatever it was it did quite a lot of work on the town... which probably added to the noise that seemed to bound around from block to block, construction as they tried to repair what was taken from them. Eventually she would settle for a location just a ways outside of the city of walls, settling on a rock as she closed her eyes as she had done so many times before.
Energy filled the air with a form of cacophony she could get behind, the best company of all. Her eyes staring into the deep darkness of her mind space as she zoned out on the world around her... but thoughts couldn't help but annoy her. She didn't reveal it to anybody but she had fully intended to return to the Mountain of Bewilderment after seeing her sister... yet when she arrived they seemed in short supply of people to assist in the reformation of the villages defense, she couldn't help but say yes when she was offered the rank of Genin to assist the village of her birth. Yet... this place wasn't her home. What connections did she have in this village outside of her sister? They were people... sure, the people she was born to work alongside but she hadn't seen any of them in ten years. Much less remember anything about this place, it was like visiting a relative everyone assured you had met before. Awkward. Her feet tensed as they clasped against each other in meditation, the chaotic energy of this place lacked the peace she was all too used to. The serene silence, the rippling of oil, and the solemn company of those who followed a path similar to her... albeit with a far less successful outcome.
Her legs would twitch as she thought more and more about what she had signed up for... it was too late to leave now, especially seeing as she had yet to visit her sister and it was her third day in the village. She could feel the natural energy enter her body ever so slowly, though it was just as chaotic as the world around her. She was far from the inner peace of pure stillness that it demanded from her. And in a single motion it would all expel from her body with a significant portion of her own chakra, her hands would raise scratching at her hair in a frantic manner before letting out a loud sigh speaking to the woods around herself, "Why do people have to be so difficult..."
Not many places remained for something like solitary mediation within the village itself though plenty probably existed in the forest surrounding it. People were actively encouraged to not go out on their own at present moment. With the attack so fresh it was largely considered too dangerous to do many solo 'adventures' in the area. Of course, it had been four years since anyone had called traveling alone a genuine good idea.
One of the people not seen in ten years was a white haired girl though they probably didn't know much if any outside of the fact little miss white hair was from a 'known' clan, the Kaguya. Though if Sato had any memory the fox ear like tufts in her hair and the long tail she had were new. "I don't know, why do you have to be right under my napping tree?" Uh-oh, she didn't sound happy.
Noriko's memories of the clans were spotty at best, being a child who had grown up in the safety of indoors far away from society much like the rest of her family who had preferred the company of beasts to that of people. So she unfortunately, or fortunately didn't know who Nyx was. Her legs would remain clasped as the sage took a quick glance to the girl with the ears of a beast, though she would look relatively unfazed, "I thought people liked to sleep in beds not under trees! Though I couldn't complain, nice shade from the sun above and far from the people of the village." The girl would speak in a soft-spoken voice. She'd close her eyes once again as if fazing out of the situation, the girl's aggressive tone being completely lost on the toad.
She would tilt her head from one to the other as she tried to free herself from the thoughts that didn't seem to want to quit bugging her inner peace. While it seemed all too clear to the average person that Nyx wasn't inviting Noriko to stay under the tree, the toad master seemed to have a healthy lack of concern when it came to the matters of other people. She wasn't being as loud as the village's construction work after all so she saw little danger in it. Once she got into the groove of her meditation she would be as silent as still water... that was to say if she could reach the state of nirvana she was hoping for. Everything was simpler in the Land of Toads, everything here was so... coarse.
One of those ears actually moved in annoyance as Noriko gazed at her. The long tail which had grown after that thing happened was sealed inside of her swept to the side as she narrowed her eyes. Apparantly this person was absolutely stupid unable to take the smallest hint to clear the fuck out. Nyx rolled her eyes glaring sharply at the dense toad.
"Also known as you're in my way you dumb blonde." Was the sage blonde or brunette, Nyx didn't care she looked blonde to the sleep deprived genin. Light dark circles were visible contrasting her incredibly pale skin a bone coming out of her hand and stabbing the tree behind Noriko. Yes, she could go around and take another direction up into the tree... but, why would Nyx do that these days when she had the chance to express some of the well of anger over boiling inside of her body!
Shards of bark from the damaged tree would trickle down onto Noriko as she didn't even bother to open her eyes, perhaps she was dumb or this was just the level of inner peace Senjutsu required. She wouldn't even move to brush off the tree's wounds as she continued sitting that all too contemplative pose of meditation. Though the aggression in Nyx's voice followed with her threatening motions weren't lost on the toad this time, her voice keeping that all too serene tone, "Calm. The tree did little wrong to you." She would tilt her head to one side as she kept her eyes closed, "Perhaps some meditation would do you well, it is good to vent your frustrations in your mind rather than attempt to harm someone. It is a steady balance... one I needed to work on myself today, so I can help walk you through it." Emotions were hard to deal with, Noriko understood that all too well when being barraged by the bitter ones that stained her tongue. Sometimes it was best to go back to the very beginning of meditation training to remember the rest of it, when feelings got the best of you it was best to take it one step at a time after all.
It was all too clear that Noriko still had little intent to move from the spot she had plopped her rear down onto, and despite Nyx's hostilities the toad sage didn't view her as a threat, a bandit would've slit her throat without asking and a beast wouldn't have revealed their position. No Nyx was probably just emotional, and Noriko wasn't going to make a threat out of someone who needed help but violence wasn't going to get either of them anywhere. Noriko couldn't just beat her way out of her headspace like some of the more brutish toads back home.
Perhaps a more direct confrontation was going to be in order to get this annoying little toad out of her way... Said the girl who wasn't exactly the tallest herself. Grey optics rolled and she scoffed out audibly. "You should have more sense of your surroundings than to brush off something that that is basically a threat. Also, I really don't care that the tree did nothing and if you do than you should stop pissing me off." While she may want to attack the other woman the white haired girl couldn't exactly do that because she didn't know how the few who knew about the seal would react to that... She didn't want taken off active duty.
Nyx busted out chackling when the toad told her that she had to process this in her mind. That was absolutely not happening. "How about you get out of your own head instead? Huh?! You're being so freaking rude. I wouldn't be frustrated if you just me through to my napping tree." Actually that was debatable she could still be absolutely livid even when laying trying to nap.
Noriko would keep her breathing very steady not allowing any of the threats to break her serene mindset, her perfect balance with the nature around her as her body worked itself through the conversion of the natural energy into chakra, "You're a ninja of Konohagakure right? You're better than to attack another ninja of the village, we need everyone we can get to help with the village's repairs." The toad sage would speak her mind over the situation happening in the village, it was true that she didn't consider Konoha her home but that didn't mean she didn't feel an obligation to help the place her family helped build. It was the least she could do for abandoning them for so long. Even if it meant it was going to take her even longer to return to the mount of bewilderment.
She would completely stop tilting her body as she let her body stand perfectly still, "You could always go around me to the other side of the tree, there is plenty of room for both of us. Or perhaps you could even climb the tree and rest upon one of the many branches." Despite her goal of staying perfectly still she would let out a slight smile, not out of trying to be rude but just because she hadn't had a conversation with someone in so long... it felt oddly good to talk to somebody, especially without all the construction noises. She'd let out her own giggle, "You could always sit in my lap too if you'd like... or perhaps you'd let me sit in your lap while I meditate?"
Someone should break a few things on this dumb blonde but it wouldn't be her most likely because she had serious doubts about getting away with it when she was holding the nine tails inside of her body. Knowing her luck they'd believe the fox was gaining some form of control rather than a little pest just pissed her off. She didn't want to see that outcome.
"Not all ninja are going to care about that... some people have been very... temperamental."
It was empty threats on the front of Nyx right though and Noriko was treating it like that.
Nyx scoffed rolling her eyes. "Yeah, not happening I shouldn't have to go out of my way to go around just because you're rude and inconsiderate to being in someone's way!" She was quite a ram unwilling to go around when it was the existence of the toad that made the situation. This toad wanted to play things that way... Alright. Unless Noriko did anything about it she'd find Nyx laying across her taking up as much space as she could.
Noriko was sure that there were ninjas in the village that would willingly give up their status as ninjas to attack somebody in the stress of the situation, yet she was certain Nyx wasn't one of those individuals. She would just keep a dumb smile on her face as Nyx talked, her eyes closed all the while. It was that dumb kind of serene bliss that came from taking life in a grand stride, life a casual dance in the hands of strings out of her control. As Nyx laid across her lap, she would merely make more room for the girl on her lap, spreading her legs as wide as she could to allow Nyx to lay fully across her lap. All the while her body would remain perfectly still, not a change in her expression. It was no surprise that she had rested on many a toad's back so why should she not let people rest on her lap? It was the same principle. Surprisingly the toad's lap was warm given her clothing, perhaps a side effect of her chakra channeling it was almost like her lap was a fluffy heated pillow. She wouldn't move an inch letting Nyx have as much room as she wanted.
