APPEARANCE
FACE CLAIM: Suwako Moriya (Touhou)
PERSONALITY: Noriko Sato is a pleasant person, albeit one who is limited in human interaction. She has an awkward time expressing her real feelings on things preferring to brush everything under the rug of "It couldn't be helped." Choosing to not worry about things that happened in the past, having trouble expressing such grief so choosing not to express it at all. Despite this she finds it easy to communicate with people who don't pry too deep into why she does the things she does, simple people who can see the shine of the sun without worrying about the shadow underneath.
Her serene enjoyment of the world comes from her years of Sage training upon Mount Myōboku, having had to meditate in complete stillness on and off for years to try and master the collection of natural energy. Why worry about the little things when time seems to fly so fast? Having lived as a near hermit most of her life she finds enjoyment in man-made crafts, things like ramen standing out to her as absolutely amazing. That said she has a similar enjoyment for the simplest of things such as a stray butterfly or the dew upon a blade of grass.
Despite her cheerful exterior her manner of speak can come across weird as she tends to go on long stretches of rambling as if she was speaking to a wall when she's talking to somebody. Having been used to her hermit lifestyle of meditation, though that's not to say she's entirely socially stunted as she had been living with the toads of Myōboku which gave her aplenty company to speak with. But its all too clear to anyone that meets her that she's got a lot to make up for.
Having recently learned about the devastation her home faced while she was away on Mount Myōboku she wants to do anything she can do to help, wanting to use her training to benefit her village... though whether she considers Konoha her home or not isn't entirely clear. Seemingly never using the word home to describe where she was born, making it seem like she'd just as willing go back to her hermit lifestyle at a moment's notice. This isn't helped by her aloof attitude that makes her tend to miss important dates as she gets caught up in the world around her.
Noriko has mastered what it meant to be a sage, but in doing so she has forgotten what it meant to be a person.
HISTORY: The Sato family was one rooted in the arts of Summoning, all of the children in the clan being made to sign Summoning Contracts at ages as early as five years old. But it seemed that at a moment's notice the family could come to an end as the heads of the family failed to produce an heir for over a decade. It was thought that their family's arts would be lost to the sands of time... yet the world had other plans for them as not only did they manage to have children, they had unexpected twins, both exhibiting higher than average chakra pools. It couldn't have been a better omen for the small clan that had nearly faced the edge of extinction.
Though the flow of life would have other plans as the twin Satos would find themselves separated by the winds of fate. Noriko having signed the Toad Summoning Contract found herself faced with an interest prospect, in conjunction with higher than average chakra pools she had the option of being spirited away to Mount Myōboku to practice the art of Senjutsu for an unspecified amount of time. Yet the decision ultimately came down to the young elder daughter of the clan, and she gleefully accepted the proposition. Why else would fate have given her parents two daughters if one wasn't meant to leave? This simple philosophy would carry Noriko away to the Land of Toads as she left her family behind to pursue the art of the toads.
Back home however she would miss a lifetime of danger and miss the chance to see her parents again. Her sister, Nozomi, being left to bear the burden of not only the Mystery Beast but the very death of their parents to the namesake monster. A endless destruction of her homeland as she meditated afar, not knowing the fates of her family or of her village. She would study for ten whole years, having not quickly attuned to the art as many others would have, as despite her larger than average chakra pool she was unwieldy and young. Her training would not only teach her how to control her chakra but how to value the natural energy that flowed everywhere around her. This meditative state of training would make her very wise for her age, having had to grow up fast without her parents around to take care of her. While she mastered the art of Sage Mode within the first eight years of her arrival, she also studied the use of her actual chakra as well. She had never went to the Academy, but having trained with the toads she mastered the art of her natural affinity as well as learning how to best utilize the summoning arts. Though this training has left her form of ninjutsu seeming quite different as she more often performs jutsus with her feet rather than her hands. Her tens years of study would encompass all of this with little time for anything else, the time she wasn't actively training her jutsu she spent meditating for excessive amounts of time. This would leave the village questioning if she was still alive, having been assumed dead along with her parents.
After ten years of study she would finally return home, having felt she had achieved a necessary grasp of Senjutsu to actively use it in the field without use of the toad oil or needing toads to harness the natural energy for her. Upon her arrival she would knock upon her family door as if nothing had ever went wrong, only to be greeted by the death of her parents and the only surviving member of the Sato clan being her twin sister. Yet she took this news in stride, her training had left her emotionally wise... or perhaps the better term would be socially inept. She would find herself placed into a Genin rank upon her appeal to the higher ups of Konoha, having need for more active Genin to assist the village. While she had hoped to get back to Myōboku she understood that she should provide whatever she could to the village... in lieu of her parents untimely demise. Though she wouldn't admit it she also had intent to stay to keep her sister company. She has intent to stay and rebuild Konoha with the training that encompassed most of her life... even if it seems like she'd rather spend her time staring into an empty pond in meditation.
