It had been just long enough after the Nine Tails 'attack' for all injuries to be healed with the helped of medical ninjutsu and time. Currently the village had no room for wasting anything because eventually the other monsters released four years ago would realize the fox was gone; Possibly even realize that it vanished around Konohagakure! Their team-mate had lost one of their legs during the last battle while Nyx herself had been hospitalized for days under supervision as the Nine Tails cursed everyone ensuring she and thus it survived. Only a few more days were required for them to figure out it couldn't do anything much further and thus she was set back to active duty... Despite the fact many had concerns these days about her.... sanity. Ever since the sealing Nyx had seemed to change in more ways than just beginning to talk to 'herself'.
"Hey, Hey, Chaoris? Do you think our new team-mate will have good bones?" Brief she chuckled at her own question as between her hands she worked on sharpening one bone with another carving a bone knife out of bone with a bone. "I'm certain they'll be absolutely useless like the rest of you ninja. I'm certain seeing their bones is all they'll be good for." Nyx groaned out exasperated at the voice in her head. "Oh shut it you cursed asshole, I don't want to see their actual bones! It's a figure of speech!" The female leapt down from the tree she was waiting in to stand next to Chaoris glaring at everything and nothing all at once. "You'll see their bones, after-all isn't it getting late? Non reactive ninja's are always the first to get cut down." After a few minute's she'd speak up again tossing a bone up and down in her hand. "Anyway, Chaoris, isn't she horrible for being late!" If their new team-mate was actually late or if Nyx had just decided to deem her such was up for debate.
Chaoris had been one of the lucky few, or at least as lucky as one could be with everything that had happened. He had managed to avoid injury, much to the jealousy of many of the others, while one on his team had lost their leg and the other was almost killed and subsequently had a Bijuu immediately after. One was forced to quit and move on to other ways of life, while Nyx had been let loose after being hospitalized. Today they were meeting up again to meet their new team member, which was something he would have preferred not to do given the circumstances.
Nyx was with her right now, talking to him and to either herself or the Bijuu depending on the situation, as they waited for the newbie to the team to come and find them. "She's not late, we're just early. I didn't have much to do at the time so I came early, and I assume you just did the same." He was used to ignoring the talking so far, whether insanity or an inner voice it didn't matter. Either way she was still a teammate and he had to trust her, to keep from doubting her when he needed to depend on her in missions.
The recent Nine Tails attack left a deep-rooted scar on the Hidden Leaf Village. Well, perhaps it would be more correct to say multiple scars, not just on the village physically but in the minds and bodies of its people. Many people died that day, losing their lives or spirits along the way. It was going to be hard finding someone who didn't lose anything that day. The Hyuga girl was no exception, having lost her entire team in one fell swoop. It was a wonder how they even managed to repel the beast in the end. There were rumors about what may have happened. Some say the late Hokage took the beast down with him while others say it just seemed to vanish without a trace. Whatever it may be, the thought that there may be others like it out there was a very real and worrying concern. Still, for now they would have to put that aside. Rebuilding the village and strengthening their numbers was their top priority. It was probably because of this rekindling spirit that the Genin were swiftly put back into teams so quickly. After all, the more shinobi they could squeeze out the better their chances were should something like this happen again.
The young Hyuga heir hurried up the path to their meeting spot with small pants, holding something that seemed to be a container close to her chest. Bandages decorated her arms and legs, indicating that her injuries still had some time to heal. This, however, did not seem to be slowing her down much. She wasn't late, for once, but she still had to make sure she would get to their meeting place in time. It'd look bad to be late on their first get together. First impressions meant everything. Once she was able to see the two in the distance she used her free hand to single to them. "H-Hey!" she shouted with a smile to catch their attention. Once close enough she slowed her pace and stood before them, offering the new faces a warm smile despite still looking a bit beat up. Blue, pupiless optics took a minute to look over the two. She recognized them from the academy since she were in the same year together, but Midori couldn't help but notice how different they looked already. This line of work did tend to do stuff to you, both good and bad. This wasn't really the best time though, so it was probably bad of her to judge. "Nyx and Chaoris, right? I'm Midori, Hyuga. It's nice to be able to meet my new team." Pausing she opened the container which contained four onigiri. Two for them, one for herself, and one for their instructor. Each riceball held a different face on them and looked handcrafted. "These are for you. Please pick one. I figured there was nothing better to bond over than food." Food was never a bad thing, right?
Even though his near fatally injured team-mate had survived each day showed further that she may not be anywhere near the girl that worked with him for the past four years and went up through the academy in his class. Even the grey eyed Kaguya's style of dressing had changed once she was released, though that was only a matter of days ago. What had once been fairly modest and normal clothing was now a black coat that went to her knee's and boots that left inch long strips on either side of her foot exposed.... Normally she would have been the one commenting on how early it was in general instead of the things presently coming out of her mouth. "I left when I felt like it. Anyway, in the ninja world isn't anything short of early automatically late." she shrugged against the tree taking her now complete bone knife and carving small lines in the bark next to her leg.
"I don't know, are you right?" Apparantly having the fox inside of her pushed out her common manners because Nyx nearly barked it out before even considering introducing herself. Over one of the eyes looking at Midori ran a seemingly very deep black scar but, it was odd as her eye itself seemed undamaged. "At least you don't look boring." The other girl had already been briefed on their names and Chaoris was probably going to introduce himself so why should she have to put out that effort while listening to that cursed thing that her body held inside to prevent the destruction of the village.
In the past other's had offered them things the same as Midori was right now. During those days Nyx's reaction had been entirely predictable and polite. Just a week before what many now referred to as Hokage's Fox Fall a shop keeper had given them kabobs while they were on guard duty. Back than Nyx's reaction had been the same as it'd been since the day they met! She'd merely nodded her head softly spoke a polite thanks and melted back behind the two of them as if she'd never been there in the first place. "Those just look funny, I bet she made them just to front, after-all who wouldn't hate being put on a team with us even the dude is just stuck with you, prison." Nyx shook her head snatching one with an irate expression and loud huff. "They probably don't taste weird as they look and you can just shut your pointy mouth." the white haired girl would bite into one with a groan as in her ears alone she could hear the mocking laughter of the nine tails. "It doesn't really matter how they taste in the end, her fake bonding attempt is pointless none of you will be together that long with my brethren and those weird beasts roaming the lands." Briefly she glanced over at Chaoris before looking back down at the rice ball letting out an airy light chuckle. "I know, I know." Than she continued onto eating the rice ball taking up differing paces and sizes of bites according to whatever suited that moments impulse.

Rude. That was the only word that came to mind when talking with Nyx lately. Sure, she had a second consciousness within her now, but it seemed she was taking it out on everyone at this point. "Early is not always late. Too early to some things can get you killed. Assassinations, for example, require you to be on time. Too early in the attack and you'll get yourself caught and they'll walk away from it." She needed to be calmed down somehow, but it wasn't something he could do on his own nor have to. At least, not for now. For now they had a new teammate walking up to them.
The new girl was a Hyuga, and would introduce herself as Midori. Unlike Nyx, Chaoris would not be rude or negative at their new teammate. Yes, they had lost one they were close to, but they needed to work together and bring her in so they could work better together. "I apologize for her, she's going through a lot right now and it's not my place to explain exactly what. That's between her and our teacher to decide. A pleasure to meet you, Midori. I am Chaoris Chinoike. I hope having you on our team leads us to greater heights, and that we can do more together as a whole." With one hand he would accept one of the riceballs, smiling and nodding a thank you, while also offering a hand for a handshake to go with what he had just said.
The world was bad right now, and every year it seemed to get worse. That's how it seemed from where they all stood, but maybe they could somehow make it better somewhere.
Unlike what she originally thought would happen, Midori's rhetorical questioning of their names was met with a sarcastic bark back. Following up she got a stern looking-over from the Kaguya and a mumble about her looks. The genin had to pause for a moment, her soft expression turning to confusion at the sudden hostile response she had gotten for merely introducing herself. The heir briefly questioned if she had somehow offended Nyx in some way. Perhaps she didn't like onigiri, due to an allergen of some sort? Or maybe she had accidently said something bad during the academy? Maybe she had accidently hit her too hard during a sparring match and sent her to the hospital? That tended to happen more often than she liked to admit. That poor Uchiha boy's face never did fully recover.
Midori could have spent all day wondering in her own thoughts if not for the boy who spoke up next to her. A Chinoike. An interesting choice indeed. Chinoike, Huyga, Kaguya. Three predominant clans in the shinobi world. Now one only had to wonder who would be crazy enough to mentor them. Midori's confused gazed transferred over to Chaoris who explained with little detail Nyx's situation. The explanation seemed to do the trick of quelling any worries as her expression turned from confused to relieved. "That's quite understandable. No need to worry, everyone feels the same more or less. It's hard not to when a giant fox beast levels half the village. Ah, i suppose i shouldn't really bring that up...Sorry." Seeing as how she didn't want Nyx to get a bad first impression she would remember to not bring that event up unless necessary. Midori gave the boy a smile as he took a riceball and extended a hand forward. "I feel the same, Chaoris. I hope we all achieve great things together, both now and in the future." Extended her own hand she would grasp ahold of his and shake, as if to seal those words between them. Perhaps it would have been better if Nyx had done the same... Buuut it looked like she was enjoying the riceball so she wouldn't interrupt. After the handshake Midori reached into the container and retrieved her own onigiri, taking a bite of it and looking down the path she had taken. "I don't suppose either of you know where our sensei is... Or who it's supposed to be? Everyone is so busy right now i can't imagine who they managed to scrounge up to teach at a time like this" she asked through muffled bites. All the adults were so busy rebuilding... Was there anyone left?
The fox took it's anger out on her mentally twenty four seven and in turn he was in a sense right, Nyx took it out on everyone else, only it may not so much completely be the girl herself consciously. While the beast was secured in it's little prison within her body unable to control or act at the moment? It could certainly bleed it's emotions into her the vile it spewed warping her.
Not right now, today wouldn't be the date that she was calmed down. For the moment she just rolled her eyes with a chuckle. The most she'd seemed like herself was when she'd first awoken. "I don't, I've heard worse before lunch, ninja need thicker skins." Nyx's chuckle was low and dark followed once more by a roll of the eyes while looking at the two of them, she literally heard insults all day daily at the moment so she was a bit... short on empathy. She would work with Chaoris but they didn't need someone new. "Someone new can't be taught to work with you anyway, prison, he can only stand you because he's attached to the you without me." She didn't need her annoying mental guest to tell her such things Nyx already knew that her team-mate probably didn't like who she was anymore. Probably wondered how to bring back the meek, polite, background sort girl that he'd worked with for four years. Too bad that while she didn't actually want to be angry and spiteful as she was the white haired girl also didn't want to be who she'd been before the fox was sealed inside of her.
Crazy was the right term for whoever chose willingly to mentor them...
"Ha. You don't know the half of it." Midori brought up the fox and what had seemed like a soft bitter mood nearly like a sour apple quickly turned to something which seemed like genuine rage and upset. Nyx quickly turned her back storming a few paces away from them. "Foolish girl, and you think that you know anymore than her? Well I'd just hope she doesn't find out about me.. No telling how someone could react." She promptly shoved the rest of the rice ball down her throat in an aggressive manner. It was actually impressive her face was still clean. "Than maybe you should shut up, you bastard." This stupid thing seemed to love talking particularly whenever it could be cruel like implying her new team mate would go after her.
Dying back to sour after about five minutes her even set face would look back at the others as she leaned against the tree again once she'd walked back over. "Don't know but, they're rather crazy, highly revered, or young and stupid... Maybe some combination."
There was no way the group was all going to get along right from the start, not with how Nyx was currently acting. No one wanted her to be a past self she disliked, they simply wanted her to show some restraint and something other than anger and malice. Chaoris, for what it was worth, was being very patient right now. "Again, please do not mind her comments. We've all lost close friends in the attack and some of us lost more than others. For now, why don't we all try to get to know each other better before deciding that we can't be a team at all, okay?" It was geared towards the Kaguya more than the Hyuga girl, and that would be obvious to her in the end.
Chaoris had a closer relationship than Nyx did with their prior teammate, and while he was not sealed with a powerful entity eating at his mind and poisoning his thoughts he did have to deal with his own mind thinking of what he could have done differently to help the others that had been with him on that day. Could he have kept her from nearly dying before they left her there? Could the other have not lost their leg if he had done something else? Some of the teachers said hindsight was twenty twenty, but the more he reflected the worse it got.
The Hyuga would inquire as to where their sensei was, which was sort of a good question. Given the new composition of a team from two previous ones they would be getting a new leader for the team. "I'm not sure, and searching for them would be a bad idea as we have no clue who it would be. Our best bet would be to stay together and wait for them. We could get to know each other in the meantime, maybe learn what we all do and figure out what kind of dynamic they think we are as a group." He was just stalling for time and trying to keep from being bored as they began to wait. A new sensei was always an event on its own. It could lead to a test, conversation, or anything in between.
"Not enough" the brunette stated, her breath heavy as she looked upon the wrought and burning scene before her. "Stop shaking." slapping her right leg, the woman huffed an exhausted breath as she reached to her side and popped open a canteen. Taking a chug from the container, she would sigh with relief after finishing the gulp, "Go and train, more like get out of the house my boyfriend is coming over, screw you, sis." About to go in for another swig the woman felt nothing but air enter her throat. Eyes turned daggers as she glared at the lack of contents inside and almost threw the canteen to the ground, only to stop just shy of releasing it. "I don't want to buy another one, guess it means I'm done here. At least I got done early enough to stop by and refill, maybe grab a couple more before I meet with the little walking depression sacks." Turning away from her previous training targets, Hio sauntered out of the forest at a relaxed pace, the charcoal she left behind her speaking volumes of her life as of this moment.
"I was supposed to meet them around here right? aw crap." Hio mused as she shook her head in frustration and readied her bottle for another pass. "Better get up on the rooftops, should be easier to track them down, heck they have white and green hair, shouldn't be too hard." Hoping up to one of the smaller buildings rooftops, Hio would gradually increase her ascent, all the while taking a couple of shots here and there. She already to deal with herself, and now she had to deal with a group of very depressed youngsters, it wouldn't be an easy day. Her jaunt upon the roofs eventually proved fruitful as the maiden spotted the group below her. Huh, all of them were early, lame, when she was a genin she'd always be late, or she put it "casually on time". This group of Genin better not be sticklers for everyone being on time, or else they would all be disappointed by Hio in the future.
She could have jumped down, but Hio had another idea, a stupidly drunk idea. "I see my Students have all arrived early to this meeting. I am glad to see all of you are eager to get star-" Roofs and alcohol don't mix. Hio took a hard dive as she stumbled forward and off the roof onto the dirt below. A comic thud resonated in the street as Hio let out an oof, and slowly stood to her feet. "Hold on... don't worry, just hold on." Hio stated with a twinge of pain in her voice as she hobbled her way around the corner of the building and into a small alleyway.
A few seconds later she would remerge and a confident stroll in her step, "I see my Students have all arrived early to this meeting. I am glad to see all of you are eager to get started!" Holding out her right hand she would hold her index finger up as she her other hand popped open a bottle at her waist she took a shot from it. "That's the good stuff... anyway, yeah so before we do introductions and all that stuff, I'm just going to say what the test is. You guys have to grab my bells... heh, no sorry, get bells from me to prove you can work together, the thing is I uh... I was training in the forest of death, had one too many drinks, and sort of left them in the forest of death, somewhere. Whoops, but like you guys could get them from there, right?" Hio gave a smirk as she went to uncork another bottle. "Oh and I'm Hio Uchiha, call me sensei or something, give my ego a boost, that would be great."

The Chinoike boy seemed the more level-headed, or at the least, more sane of the two. It was going to be hard to ignore Nyx's comments, especially during the times they were going to have to communicate as a team. In fact her bantering could be a little dangerous if they were ever stuck in a bad situation. Who knew what was actual speech and her talking to her imaginary friend. Perhaps the Kaguya had been thrown out of the frying pan and into the kitchen a little too soon, but the village was in desperate times. At the very least, Midori held comfort there was one other person she could talk to normally. There might be hope after all.
"Right" Midori nodded at Chaoris' suggestion, agreeing both to not assuming the team was already over and figuring out a team dynamic. It had only been a few minutes and tensions were still high. Hell, if Midori had the chance for her whole team to revive from the dead and go back to that she would, just like they probably wished their old team mate could recover as well. Change was scary, but change was necessary. Now she just had to think of what she could bring to the team. Taking a second to ponder the Hyuga stood in thought before speaking. "Well the Hyuga Clan is most commonly known for the Byakugan. It allows us to-" but before Midori could get into the meat of the special eyes a woman appeared on a roof next to them, shouted something at them, and proceeded to stumble off the edge and onto the ground below. Midori could only stand there in complete and confusion, her face contorting into utter bewilderment at whatever just happened in front of them. What even was that? It was less of a woman and more of a drunken monkey or something. Nothing she was saying made sense. Bells? Drinking? Forest of Death? Are they sure she was even the right person and not some drunkard looking for a good time? Grabbing her bells seemed like a euphemism for something naughty. The Hyuga heir's gaze turned to her team mates, although she kept her head turned towards the intoxicated chimp to not seem too disrespectful. "Erm, are we sure this is really our sensei? My mother always said to never trust a stranger who asks you to touch her bells. She also seems a little drunk. Maybe this is part of the lesson...?" Maybe they had to fight this fake sensei to get to the real sensei or something. Either way, Midori had no idea how to take this.
The start was not remotely going to be nearly smooth as Chaoris or Midori hoped on quite a number of aspects but most of them would be Nyx's behavior... While she could appease the white haired boy sometimes absolutely no reason existed for her to do more than tolerate the green haired one. No word uttered she chose to 'appease' him to an extent not bringing up the fact some people were still losing things thanks to the foxes attack. Like her sleep, her peace of mind, having her body to herself, you know things people typically valued. "We'll be a team anyway, nothing any of us wants matters.... Unless we make it." Nyx made the comment off to the side chuckling briefly shaking her head.
"Yeah, do as we're told and wait here like good disposable little Genin." But, despite the eye roll and anger dripping off the comment all Nyx did was scale the tree nearby to sit on a branch of it. Even angry as she was the grey eyed female knew better than to get off the boat so to speak. "As expected from my clan I'm a Taijutsu specialist...." She was leaving something out by the way she tapered off near the end looking up through the canopy of the tree she was laying in. "You've been getting better at ninjutsu since me being sealed prison. Guess that would be suspicious though, wouldn't it? Better be careful to only ever practice alone." She merely held the side of her head with a soft groan.
As the brown haired woman joined them Nyx would purposefully wait a few long moments before jumping down. "Did you lose some marbles there too?" With a roll of her eyes and a mutter of something beneath her breath she looked over at Chaoris. Where they going to go there to try to get them? "I'm sure your mother more meant something like-" She'd pull a bone from her hand and mold it with chakra quickly to make the shape of a ball. "This, and-" It was a few seconds, a seeming slip of the hand which resulted in the ball flying towards their teacher. She waited an extra second. "Watch out!" Before saying something... Couldn't blame her for wanting to see how drunk their instructor was. It happened to be an important thing to do anyway if they were going to go after what she lost, to check how much they could trust this woman's memory.
She absolutely didn't just want to see the ball smack the teacher in the face, no not even remotely.
It seemed the new member of the team was focusing more on her own clan's special abilities just like Nyx did with her bones and taijutsu. He was no better, his genjutsu and medical ninjutsu were something a lot of his clan could be seen using nearly all the time. As they talked, another would call out to them before they clearly fell from wherever they were standing moments ago. They would tell them not to worry before finally revealing themselves to the group. They would announce themselves as their new team leader, their new sensei, but it was hard to believe that a drunkard would be put in charge of this group. Surely there was something hidden in there that those that decided this saw? For now he would have to give the benefit of the doubt, as the other was them getting a horrible teacher that would hold them back and he couldn't believe they would do such a thing.
He would go to give a standard greeting once Midori had spoken, but Nyx would cut in with what she said and did just before he could try and stop her. Well, guess he would just let this one happen. There was no way he could stop it in time, so all he could do was wince as he imagined it hitting their supposed new teacher in the face.
Not the reaction Hio was expecting, she thought they would be more energetic, then Hio remembered all of them had lost people in recent events; great just what she wanted a bunch of sad kids. Add suspicious to that list as well, just what Hio needed everyone to question her, they acted as if they had never seen a jounin before. "I'm not a stranger, I'm the one the village assigned to lead all of you, unless you aren't the ones I'm supposed to teach. No, that's not possible, you guys are clearly the ones, I mean look at you, green hair and clueless look that's you Midorky, and white hair looking sad matches the description for you Chaos, and weird tail and ears, totally Minx." Hio stated with a slur as she wobbled just a bit, and none too soon as Nyx seemed to make an off-topic your mom joke and toss a piece of bone towards Hio? Even sober the woman would be confused by that action, but never the less managed to sneak a smile upon her lips. "Woah, did they make this path uneven or something?" Hio slurred as she tripped over herself and fell to her side, the ball passing over where Hio had previously been standing. adjusting her position on the ground Hio would rest her hand underneath her arm the same goofy smile on her face.
"Oh yeah, I just like didn't tell you anything did I? The reason I even brought up bells is that it's supposed to the test or one of them we can choose to test new students' capabilities. I guess you guys aren't new though, cause you had teachers before me, but I figured it could be a cool bonding exercise. Sucks I left them in the forest of death though, but hey that's a whole new test in and of itself right? You guys look capable, just go in there and then come find me in the village once you guys get them. I'd recommend looking in one of the bars, I'm almost out of the good stuff on my person and it's still early in the day. oh yeah and don't die, I don't want to have to write sad letters."
There was something not right with this teacher. She was an Uchiha, and a high enough rank to teach children. Clearly she was revered for her talents and hard work if she had managed to climb the ranks like that. But the thing before the Hyuga right now, the drunkard woman who could barely stand on her feet, was the complete opposite of what was envisioned as a good shinobi. Either the village has lost its mind, or there was something more going on here. This suspicion was confirmed even more as Nyx flung a bone ball at their sensei, who very skillfully and tactfully dodged it. Of course, to the naked eye the fall seemed nothing more than Hio once again losing her balance, but it someone who trained in the body and its movements Midori was able to see the skill that went into pretending to fall.
The green haired Hyuga fell silent for a few moments, her usually soft eyes falling into more of a neutral gaze. Slowly veins crept from the sides of her face closer to her eyes and for once something that almost seemed to resemble a colorless iris shaped into the center of the eye. The Byakugan was active. Focusing in on their sensei Midori looked past the clothing barrier and saw in her pockets the very same bells she had just mentioned she had left behind in the Forest of Death. "Sensei, those bells you mentioned... They're still in your pockets." Hio was either extraordinarily intoxicated, or knew exactly what she was doing, and Midori knew one of those was a lie.
Hey! Nyx was not some sad sap kid; she was a very angry child, thank you.
The long white haired girl was not remotely impressed even though Hio 'dodged' because it remained quite evident the teacher was drunk off her ass. Just the luck she needed first that thing was shoved into her and now she was stuck with a drunk. Not only was this woman an alcoholic but she also seemed to let things slip her mind when drunk like forgetting a key object for an exercise. Hopefully neither of her team-mates were stupid enough to trust this hot mess.... Of course, Midori seemed like the kind that would look in the back of someone's cart if they said that a puppy was in there.
Briefly grayish eyes looked over at Midori as the green haired girl spoke. While the other ninja seemed far too peppy and innocent? It seemed that she wasn't totally useless. Nyx had no way of confirming what was being said meaning the female just glanced at Chaoris briefly to see where he'd take this as 'team lead' between them.
