Each clone is made from water, allowing them to punch, kick, or otherwise strike opponents for minor damage. The clones produced by this technique cannot cast jutsu, unless they are doing so in the user's place, and at the cost of the user's chakra/stamina. Water clones can take a small amount of damage before being reduced to puddles of water.

So it was true then, his master had really vanished without a trace. While Masa was somewhat distraught, he had plenty of time to process these events. It wasn't as if the old man left him defenseless, or without necessary survival skills either, he had plenty of those. He simply needed to remember his lessons, look past the basics and remember the advanced techniques he had been taught. These would perhaps be the keys to locating his lost teacher. Getting the old man's attention would have to be his first goal, and the only way he could attempt that was by sending some sort of symbol.
Without much hesitation, Masa would begin making hand signs "Ushi, Mi, Hitsuji..." The once clear forest would suddenly be clouded as a pillar of mist would rise upward from Masa's body. The hidden mist jutsu was a simple technique, but one of the first he was taught after the basics. Surly, his master would notice a fifteen meter pillar of mist suddenly appearing. Though he could only hope the man would return...
Some time would pass, but his pillar would eventually fade away into nothing. He was disappointed, but admittedly expected this outcome. What he hadn't expected, was attention from others. Surrounding him in the trees of the forest were many ninja, a dozen or so by his immediate estimate.
A gruff man would shout from the treetops "Nice show runt... We're the Fire Forest Bandits! Drop all you gear and maybe we'll let you live... If you have enough ryo that is." Masa would shake his head, remaining completely calm before asking the group "Right... Well... You fellas wouldn't happened to have seen an elderly man with a straw hat would you?" The group leader was slightly taken aback, as they expected a lone swordsman to be cowering at the moment. The grizzled bandit captain would grunt "No I haven't seen an old man! This is a robbery damn it!" The assortment of attackers would all draw weapons, as Masa would simply roll back his shoulders and place a hand to the sword on his hip. "Robbery? I'll give you a chance to rethink this if you'd like. We all make mistakes sometimes. This one my cost you your life."
Now it was time to pull off an old trick his master had taught him, "Water Style..." four copies of Masa would appear around him. They were identical in appearance, but entirely liquid in structure. "...Water Clone Jutsu!" Several bandits would take steps back, realizing Masa was a trained shinobi. Someone like him was uncommon in the forest, usually it was just groups of villagers traveling between the land of lightning and fire. "D-don't just stand there men! Take him down!"
The men would launch themselves towards the clones and Masa himself. Kunai and shuriken would be thrown, but few would actually meet their marks. The man himself would draw his sword Blackrazor, viciously slashing across the stomach of the foe nearest to him. Though he was still outnumbered, his clone could pick up a bit of slack. With his left hand, Masa would form a small shuriken from water and launch it across the opening. The object would land true, slashing the neck of yet another bandit. Meanwhile, he clones were beating back the others.
Within the next few seconds, he would engage the bandit boss head on. Masa launched a deadly barrage, slash after slash he approached the man who was defending with only a dagger. "You were a fool to take me on. You underestimated your enemy. Unfortunately, there is a price to pay for that..." Gripping his sword with both hands, Masa would bring the weapon above his head before cutting vertically. The strike would seemingly sever the hand of the bandit captain who was now roaring in pain "GAAHHH! How dare you! MY HAND!"
The man had fallen to the ground in pain, and was clearly suffering from the strike. The rest of his minions would suddenly realize their defeat and begin darting towards the denser areas of the forest to escape. It was too bad Masa didn't take assaults on his life lightly... The swordsman would swiftly manage to place himself between the woods and retreating men by jumping a great distance forward. Once there, he would draw his blade and proceed to cut down each man as they fled... "I gave you all a warning that there would be consequences. Every last one must face them."
He would approach the final bandit, a captain missing a hand. The water clones around them would turn to small puddles, and in a single swift motion, Masa would remove the man's head. Wasn't as though he was using it now... Was the slaughter worth anything? What did he actually accomplish by this? He was no closer to finding his master, but perhaps he saved a few innocent travelers. At least that thought would help him sleep at night.
One thing was certain now, his campsite had far too many dead bodies around. On top of that, he had no reason to stay, with his master now missing. It was time for him to embark on a mission, leave this place and find someone who could train him further. Training was all he knew, it was his own shinobi way. He would go wherever the pursuit of power took him, as it was what he lacked to defeat his father. Though he was determined, Masa was still too inexperienced, something he hoped to soon change. With the conclusion of his encounter, and recall of past teachings, the young man would pack a small bag of what little belongings he actually owned. Throwing the satchel over his right shoulder, he would begin walking towards the land of lighting. he would continue the journey he never finished two years ago... This time he would have the skill and strength required to make it the distance. That much was assured. Now would begin the hunt for a new teacher...
